The PLATZprojekt is a place for ideas for which there is no other place in the city. It is a self-organized area based on the use of an industrial wasteland with shipping containers and other temporary structures. The basic idea is to provide inexpensive space and infrastructure for enterprises that would not be feasible in the city under normal conditions and thus also to show the need for such areas in the urban context. A further special feature is that the project - contrary to all other principles of urban planning - is in constant further development and evolution: without an initial and without a final development plan. In 2013, endboss initiated the project on a brownfield site in Linden harbour. Previously, 2er-Skateboarding e.V. had already occupied the neighbouring area by means of cooperative resistance and revived it by building what is now the largest DIY skatepark in Europe. Through the responsible use of the area, the owner of the property - Metro AG - agreed to make the neighbouring property available free of charge as an experimental field. Supported by support from the "Jugend.Stadt.Labor." programme of the Federal Institute for Urban and Spatial Research, an infrastructure with electricity, running water, Internet, etc. could be created in self-organization, enabling a constantly growing community to implement its ideas and build its own small urban district in mutual support. Since 2018, the project has been self-sustaining, with selective support from the City of Hannover. In the meantime, around 40 ideas have been implemented on the site, some of which have even been honoured by the federal or state government for creative entrepreneurship. The project is now known far beyond the city limits as the so-called "Creative Place" and is considered a best practice example of experimental urban development on a national and international level.
