Together with the Indian skate collective HolyStoked, we built India's first publicly accessible skate park in 2013. In the middle of Bangalore, a place has been created where children can play together and do sports regardless of class or gender – something that has never existed before in India. Together with "Make Life Skate Life" and Levi's financial support, we brought nearly 40 volunteers to India, including world-renowned pro skaters, to build the first Holy Stoked Park.
This park was the cornerstone for a whole movement in India. Over the past five years, the Holy Stoked team has professionalized itself in skatepark construction and has now built 15 skate parks across India, helping to make skateboarding accessible to thousands of Indian youth. This has resulted in a scene that is not only attracting attention on a national level, but also on an international level. The skate park in Bangalore is, by the way, probably one of the best and most beautiful skate parks we have ever built. Unfortunately, it's demolished in the meantime, but this makes it all the more an example of how moments can become monuments that don't just manifest themselves in concrete.
